Description

Orange County National - Crooked Cat in Winter Garden is a public championship 18-hole par-72 course (up to 7,175 yards, slope ~135) designed by Phil Ritson and Isao Aoki, known for its dramatic elevation changes, massive waste bunkers, rolling fairways, and signature island-green par-3s that create a visually striking and strategically deep test in Central Florida. This highly rated track (often ranked among the state's best publics) features generous landing areas that transition into challenging approaches, rewarding accuracy and creativity. Excellent conditioning, a large practice facility, and a modern clubhouse make it a favorite for locals and Orlando visitors. Its proximity to theme parks adds appeal. Crooked Cat provides bold, high-quality golf with unique terrain.

We played at Orange County National today and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with course management. On the first tee, the starter would not allow our group to even pull our carts forward until the group ahead had reached the green. We were held back unnecessarily and then immediately lectured about pace of play, despite never holding up the group behind us. The marshal never once approached us on the course. At the turn, we stopped briefly to grab food and were again confronted about pace of play and told we may need to skip a hole. Meanwhile, the group behind us was just reaching the green and ultimately finished roughly 20 minutes behind us. We were never the issue. Because of the comments and pressure, we had to take our food to go, which really put a damper on the round. We paid approximately $450 for the round and were treated like we were doing something wrong when we were playing efficiently. On courses like Panther Lake or Crooked Cat, expecting a round under 4:15, especially when pairing two twosomes with two singles who had never played the course and were forced to share a cart, is completely unrealistic. The front nine was enjoyable, and we actually played even more efficiently on the back nine, but the repeated confrontations ruined what should have been a great experience. Additionally the grees were very sandy and patchy in spots. Played Falcon Fire the previous day for half the cost and had a way more enjoyable experience and the course was in better shape.

Range machine closes early monday. But besides that this is the perfect place to hit balls. Plenty of room on the range. You can bring your own balls to hit in the practice chipping area and stay out all night putting and chipping. The 9hole executive walking course is so cute and fun. Crooked cat and Panther Lake are the 2 18 hole courses. Panther Lake is more scenic and my favorite for the afternoon sunset golf views! There is an academy to enroll kids and take lessons from the many instructors! Every thing you need and it never feels crowded.

4 out of 5 stars due to some grumpy guy, Mike who checked my party of 6 in. 2nd time at Panther Lake Golf Course. The grounds are fantastic. The cart service circles around every 2-3 holes. The starter is chipper and easy going. It was the check in experience that left a mark. I paid online on Golf Now. Realized once I arrived I still had a balance for 2 of the 6 players. No big deal. Mike said, “are you playing”? Confused by the question. I recall my first experience went a lot smoother in November 2025. We were greeted by staff who went above and beyond to inform me and my husband where to find the driving range and practice grounds. The green fees came with free range balls. Our second experience the customer service was lacking. After paying for a small bucket of balls - I returned to the clubhouse to ask what changed. Mike rudely responded saying, “did you go to the yellow flag?” I responded, “we were directed to the white shack to buy balls. On check in we did not receive instruction that range balls are free prior to 1pm or where to locate them”. Keep in mind, OCN IS ONE OF THE LARGEST PRACTICE/Golf facilities in the country. To soften the blow of the memorably disappointing check in, Dunie (OCN staff member) greeted my party on the course with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. That helped along with the exceptional conditions of the course. 5 stars for the course. Less than 5 for MIKE! We will be back and hope Mike steps up his customer service smile. Consider when paying non-Florida rates, an above satisfactory customer service presence is expected.

Every year I organize a 16 man trip here. This year was the first we were able to play 2 rounds at the same location and it was at PL & CC. As someone who organizes it, it’s stressful enough. Fortunately, Mike who checked us in wasn’t only understanding and patient. But also helped make sure everything went off without a hitch. Great courses, better people. Fantastic experience & can’t wait to come back

Great Pisces to play. Two world class 18 hole golf courses. 360° driving range, plenty of getting area, par 3 course, chipping and pitching area, large practice putting green. Pro shop is fully stocked.
