Description

Marcus Pointe Golf Club in Pensacola is a public championship 18-hole par-72 course (up to 6,883 yards, slope ~130) designed by Bill Amick in 1989, known for its mature live oaks, rolling fairways, and strategic water hazards that create a beautiful and challenging layout in the Panhandle. This well-maintained track features generous landing areas balanced by thoughtful bunkering and undulating greens that test accuracy and course management. Affordable rates, a full practice facility, and a welcoming pro shop make it a local favorite for everyday golfers and military personnel nearby. The course's scenic beauty and consistent conditions stand out in Escambia County. Marcus Pointe delivers solid, enjoyable public golf with classic Southern charm.

I play this course most frequently especially since I have buddies that live on the opposite side of town which makes Marcus a great meeting spot. The course is challenging and fun. fairways are typically always very solid. Greens were rough there for a while, but are now top notch. The ball rolls fast and the greens are true. Course looks beautiful right now. Practice facilities are solid and really close by. The Grill is great. Best of all is they have water coolers every few holes!!

Check-in at the pro shop was quick and easy, and the staff was genuinely helpful. We stopped in the restaurant for a morning pick-me-up and some breakfast. Simple menu, very well done. The smell of multiple sheet pans of bacon in the oven is borderline unfair. The range had plenty of room and good grass to loosen up before the round. We may have mistimed the morning slightly and skipped the putting green. On to #1. Having lived in Pensacola for a few years, I immediately wondered why I hadn’t played Marcus Pointe sooner. Compared to other local courses, the opening holes alone made it clear we’d been missing a bit of a hidden gem. Tee boxes were very good, with a couple par 3s a little thin on grass, which is expected on March 1 in the Panhandle. Fairways were in great shape (I just didn’t see enough of them). The rough was dormant but fair and very playable. With winter rules in effect, move it to a tuft of grass. Your tour card isn’t in jeopardy. Neither is the course record. The greens rolled true, maybe a touch slow, but again, late winter transitioning into spring. For the price and value, they’re a solid B to B+. I’m excited to see them come May when they’re fully in season. We saw the cart girl multiple times, and the GPS reminder to call ahead at the turn was helpful. The one downside is the GPS itself. It can beep aggressively and the cart restrictions are unforgiving at times, forcing some reverse drives with an ear-piercing alert. It also felt a bit ad-heavy. Overall, I’d give Marcus Pointe a 4.5, with clear potential to be a 5. When you factor in the food, staff, and overall experience, the day itself was a 5. I’ll definitely be back.

Marcus Pointe is a decent course in the Pensacola area. The greens, having recovered much from a grass disease, are still in bad shape. They have been rolled today to the point of being nearly comically fast. No problem, if not them having sand and fresh sod on 25-40% of every green. The GPS on the carts is also awful, see attached image.

Nice course...especially for the price Gets a good amount of play so you need yo "move along"... not a course to spend 10 minutes looking for a lost ball Greens were in good shape. Enjoyable day!

Growing up here as a kid, Marcus Pointe was the course to play. Coming back every year and playing here, it never disappoints! This year it was in fantastic condition! The staff are always great to work with!
