Description

Fairwinds Golf Course in Fort Pierce is a top-rated public championship layout on the Treasure Coast, masterfully designed by Jim Fazio with rolling fairways, abundant lakes, and well-bunkered greens that create a challenging yet fair test across six tee sets from 3,800 to 6,800 yards. This St. Lucie County-owned gem earns 4.5 stars from Golf Digest's Places to Play, blending private-club flair with public accessibility and pristine conditions year-round. The strategic routing rewards thoughtful shot-making, with holes like the wind-exposed "Windsheer" par-4 demanding precision amid breezy coastal influences. A full-service pro shop, dining at the Rusty Putter, and event-hosting capabilities enhance the experience. Fairwinds stands as a premier, affordable destination for serious golfers and casual players alike in sunny South Florida.

Fairwinds is absolutely top-notch. One of the best public tracks you’re going to find anywhere in St. Lucie County. The course is consistently in excellent condition, and you can tell they take real pride in keeping it that way. The layout is fantastic open enough to be forgiving if you catch a hook or a slice (like the rest of us), but strategic enough to make you think your way around. It’s not a mindless round. You’ll have opportunities to score, but you’ll also need to manage your shots. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy yourself and still genuinely challenge your game. And beyond the course itself, the people make it even better. The ladies inside are some of the nicest you’ll meet welcoming, friendly, and just great to deal with every time. Great layout. Great condition. Great people. Fairwinds delivers every single time. Easy five stars. -Cypress Golf

Fairwinds Golf Course is one of the nicer courses in Fort Pierce, and overall it’s in good shape with pretty scenery. That said, a few things keep it from being a five-star experience. There’s never really been a starter when we’ve played, so it feels a bit like a free-for-all getting out on the course. The staff is fine, pleasant enough, but not overly welcoming or attentive. My biggest issue is their afternoon rider fee. I totally don’t disagree with charging a rider fee if the course is busy and a cart seat could go to another paying player, that makes sense. But when you’ve got 15 open tee times on a hot Florida afternoon, charging the full twilight rate for someone who isn’t even playing feels like a pretty silly policy. All in all, it’s a nice place to play if you’re just focused on the golf itself. The course is pretty and maintained well enough, but don’t expect much in terms of service or extras.

If 0 stars were possible that would be my rating. racism at its finest never felt more disrespected in my entire life, assistant manager Milton came up to us a group of four yelling at us as if we’re children. Zero respect said we weren’t allowed to be on the grass when my cart was slightly of the pavement. I have no idea how this man gets off talking to grown men like their children. My buddy was the only colored person on that field that day. Mr. Milton didn’t bother anyone else who were drinking, running on the Green’s, people pissing in bushes etc., didn’t bother anyone else except for us. I genuinely think assisted Manager Milton is a massive racist and needs to be made an example of. I’m going to report this to the FCHR. I can assure you that there will be a follow up to this discrimination and disrespect to the general public. This is a public golf course. There was even a mention on our group taking longer than we should, but no one was behind us. No one was waiting on us and we were on the first hole. We were done in less than eight minutes. Novice players should be able to play on a Sunday afternoon without being harassed by racist management personnel. there will be a follow up with the proper agencies. I can assure you.

Despite lack of recent rains, the course was green and good turf conditions, better than most other public courses on the treasure coast. Layout is a fair test not overly challenging. Price was right. Busy, crowded course. Pace of play was a bit slow.

This golf course is a nice one, very long par 4's, pretty straight forward fairways with an occasional sharp turn. Overall, it's very fun to play. Kevin has this course in phenomenal shape. Although the recent weather has left it a little flooded, the course is in the best shape I've ever seen it in. So not only is it a fun course to play, but it also looks very good. Edit: July 13th, 2024- Kevin is not there anymore (Different superintendent now)
