Course was in good shape for a public Florida course during a drought. Now, regarding staff. We golfed at 4:04 on Feb 26th. Got there and receiving guys taking bags did not have our names on list for a Tee Time. Said someone else had that Tee Time. He gets updated list from clubhouse and surprise we were listed. Overbooking? Maybe? Ranger for the evening mentioned to my husband that next time he needed a collared shirt. We don't live in Florida, and the website showed a shirt with sleeves not a collared shirt. Same ranger also grumbled because people come to practice at the sand trap and putting green and keep them there working late. Certainly was a grump that needs to find another job if he's not happy there. Once on the course, we moved along okay.

Don’t typically write reviews, but my experience at this course was unpleasant. Started with the booking - Tried to go online to save a few bucks as online booking was 30$ less per person. Entered all my information, including my CC only to get the spinning wheel and a message saying system was not accepting reservations. So I tried a different tee time - — same message. Call the clubhouse the guy tells me “ If you can get it to go through you can get that price” that clearly tells me he knows it is an issue. If you can’t book online, then don’t offer it as an option! Get to the clubhouse, tell the guy we decided just to do 9, And he says “You can only do nine holes after 4 PM.” I have golfed over 100 courses and I have never heard of this before. He immediately follows that statement up with “and all carts need to be back by 6 PM” - so if you tee off at 4:45, you play six holes and drive back? Then I grabbed the golf cart and I’m going to go to my vehicle to get my clubs. I get intercepted with a “can’t take golf carts to the parking lot”. I think okay, common at a country club and maybe high-end public courses and I understand that. Now the golfing - Based on what I experienced thus far, I expected strict rules and at least two Rangers on the course. But no, they’re all sitting at the clubhouse. There were at least two groups jumping holes -I assumed members, but maybe not but still shouldn’t matter. The greens were in very good shape and true. I will not be back - there are many better options in southwest Florida at similar price point.

Very helpful and friendly staff who promptly replied to my inquiries in the days ahead of my tee-time, as well as the day of. They accommodated my request to tee off 45mins earlier with another group if I were able to arrive earlier. I couldn't be happier about that, because I was in the 3rd last group to have finished 18 despite teeing off at 1:56pm. The rental clubs they have are fantastic, and they had options for preferred flex/stiffness. The putter was the best I've ever rented. My only issue was that the club rental price $57 after taxes) was nearly as much as the rate I paid for my round - bear in mind the afternoon tee time for a single golfer at a pre-paid online discounted rate. The course was an great shape. It wasn't overly challenging, which my game appreciated, but it was definitely fun to play and an enjoyable layout. The greens were great - not too fast or slow, but plenty of undulation. By the time the 4 of us finished our round the sun had fully set - might have been 6:35pm. We were 21mins behind pace after 18, but after 9 we were 17mins behind, so there's certainly an issue to solve for. Is it an issue that prevents enjoyment of playing at San Carlos? Absolutely not. All in all, very happy with my experience and would definitely play again.

If you enjoy 5+hr. rounds of golf this is the place for you. 8 to 12 people every tee box waiting on the group ahead was the norm.. The highlight: A killer frat party on the back nine, was like playing on the LIV tour. The “Marshall “would drive-by and wave as the GPS says 48 minutes behind on pace of play. Get what you pay for, lesson learned

First time playing San Carlos Golf Club and I was impressed. The staff in the pro shop, cart area and the starter were all very friendly and helpful. The course is very playable and the greens were in great shape. Our foursome tee time was 10:12 and we played in 4 hours and 10 minutes. I will play there again.
