This is a decent course ruined by terrible management. We called on a Sunday to ask about a tee time. Told them we were driving from over an hour away. Got a tee time for 1:10. I specifically mentioned to the lady that we would be pushing it to get 18 in before dark which is about 5:10 right now but we decided to try it. We get there and the course is packed. No big deal. It is what it is. But then we met the 2 ladies running the pro shop. They had a sign up that said all carts must be back in by 4:30 or they would charge us an extra $25 per person. When I asked about it, they said it was bc they didn't have lights, and didn't want to clean carts in the dark. Fair enough, but when I called for a tee time and even mentioned about it being tight going off at 1:10, why wouldn't they tell me of this policy on the phone. We would have made other plans. I'm addition, they were so rude about it. They just have said it to us about 15 times while we were checking in. We get it Karen! Don't treat us like we're your children. Especially when you have it posted on your carts and in other places. When we picked up our cart, we got reminded 1 more time by the ladies cleaning the carts. LOL. It was simply very off putting before our round even started.
I also would like to state that there was a pole with a nice LED outdoor light mounted right out by the carts when we went to get ours, so I'm not sure what this lie was even about, but boy were they serious about it. Did the workers simply not want to work late like they do at every other golf course? Are the ppl in charge aware they are telling ppl this? At any rate, it was too late to go anywhere else so we gave it a go. It was busy, but that's fine because that can't be helped. However, we ended up running into a group in front of us. It was a man and woman with 2 boys that looked about 12 years old and a little girl that looked about 8 years old. Now I'm all for wholesome family activities and can't fault these 2 adults for spending time with their kids, but there is no way the pro shop should have let this group or any other fivesome play on a really busy Sunday. By the end, there were probably 20 or more ppl waiting on them on the 18th tee. The group of 5 were obviously very new at golf as the 2 adults couldn't even get it air born over half the time. They never looked behind us. They never offered to let anyone play through. On hole 17, we counted 27 swings that the little girl took on just that hole alone! She ended up moving the ball only about 100 yards forward before the mom mercifully made her pick it up. Then the dad on 18 hit 4 balls into the hazard on the right. Each time he did, he just dropped another ball and took another shot from the same spot, instead of moving up and taking a drop! Lol. Everyone was so mad by then. I really thought they were gonna come up and tell us we had been on candid camera. But alas, that was not the case.
Oh and 1 more thing, when we got there they told us hole 11 was under construction and we could not play it. But they then said don't worry though, you are allowed to play 2 balls on another hole to make up for it! Hahaha. Again, why not tell people that on the phone before they drive an hour there?
So at the end of the day it's a decent course layout and greens wise, but it's ruined by a lack of management. There wasn't a single Marshall in sight even though they are charging $60 a round which makes it one of the most expensive courses in the area. Trent Jones is only $55, and anyone that's a local golfer knows that it is far superior to this course, and has multiple Marshalls as well as GPS in every cart and a timer to help keep you on pace, as well as cart girls which this course also didn't have. Maybe management will see this and make some changes but apparently it's owned by the county now so who knows.
