Description

Oak Marsh at Omni Amelia Island Resort is a classic Pete Dye par-72 masterpiece, recently renovated by Beau Welling to refresh its 1972 design while honoring the original. Meandering through serpentine salt marsh creeks, moss-draped heritage oaks, and tight fairways with small greens, the 6,471-yard layout demands precision and rewards thoughtful play. With 14 water-involved holes and strategic bunkering, it offers a challenging yet scenic test reminiscent of Dye's Harbour Town style. The renovation improved walkability and conditioning for a modern resort feel. Oak Marsh remains a bucket-list track for avid golfers visiting Amelia Island.

The service was top tier from Tim our amazing Bellhop who was kind enough to leave us a parting gift to Bella at the lobby bar. Tim was packed with information about the island and fishing. The Room itself was clean, comfy though a bit dated but had an amazing ocean front view (as all rooms do). The hotel is renovating and I dont think ours was touched yet. It was too cold to enjoy the pool area but it was aesthetically pleasing with fire pits. All food was great averaging $30 pp per meal or higher. One of the best breakfast buffets ever. Room service was super fast each time. The recently renovated Spa was very tranquil. I enjoyed a facial and massage. The eucalyptus steam shower is a must try. Lightning in the dressing room could be better. Overall we’ll be back when its warmer.

Our recent stay at Omni Amelia Island was extremely disappointing and far below the standard we’ve consistently experienced at other Omni properties. At check-in, we were not recognized as Select Guests — something that has never happened to us at any Omni. We were initially told noon was the latest possible checkout, and only after mentioning our Icon level status was late checkout extended to 4:00 p.m. The interaction felt uncomfortable rather than welcoming. Unfortunately, the issues continued in our first room. We found a bug crawling on a feather pillow (despite my profile noting no feather pillows), there was no mattress protector on the bed, the in-room phone was covered in sand, and the table surface was sticky. The room temperature was set to 77 degrees, and the cheese in our welcome amenity was slightly melted and not refrigerated as we had been told. Although we were exhausted and did not want to move, relocation was presented as the only solution. In the second room, the shower was set to hot but ran cold for 10–20 minutes with no change. My husband ultimately had to shower in cold water due to room service arriving. Maintenance later restored hot water — interestingly, once the shower began producing steam, the sinks also started running hot. The refrigerator was emitting significant heat and, despite being set to “Max Cold,” remained room temperature. We required refrigeration for medication, and the unit eventually had to be replaced. The following morning, we again experienced hot water issues. The shower ran for over 30 minutes with no hot water. The sink and shower slowly began warming nearly an hour later. We recorded video evidence and shared it with management. We were also completely unaware of the ongoing construction at the property. Had we known, we would not have booked. We were later moved into a room with construction directly above us — even after I specifically emphasized that having a quiet room was my only priority. In our third room, the Chromecast did not function, the in-room phone did not work, and the bathroom vanity light was out. Additionally, weeks prior to arrival, we were told a bottle of wine would be waiting in our room. It was not. We were later told it would be personally delivered, but that did not happen either — my husband had to go downstairs to inquire before it was finally brought up. We were also promised a complimentary dinner at Surfcasters multiple times, yet we received a check and the charge remains on our bill. What was meant to be a relaxing getaway turned into a series of frustrations: multiple room changes, cleanliness concerns, maintenance failures, construction noise, and repeated unmet commitments. While we understand that occasional oversights happen, the sheer number of issues made this stay unacceptable and not reflective of the Omni brand we have come to trust. Under these circumstances, we believed a full or partial refund would be appropriate - I was given "two free nights" (which include a basic room and blackout dates). This morning, I was called to say they would issue a refund on my dinner (I checked out 2 weeks ago).

The positives first: the view from all rooms on the ocean is amazing. Also the pool area facing the ocean, plus the private access paths to the beach are great. The lobby has been renovated and look nice. The negatives: for the price charged you would just expect better. The rooms are nothing special beside the views. The walls are very thin, so it’s pretty noisy. The breezeways are not enclosed so the hallways are cold and exposed like in a motel. The restaurant offer mediocre food for hefty price points. What disappointed me most was the fact that they upcharge you for everything. You pay a resort fee, but then they have “special” loungers that they want $80 per day to rent. Also since there are not other restaurants in walking distance, they charge some hefty prices at almost every restaurant. Overall I was disappointed: you pay top dollar, but get a similar experience to any random hotel. Not worth the money.

I fell in love with this place. I went on whim & now want to make it a quarterly solo-retreat. While it is very family friendly with an excellent pool deck, I only wanted the peace of ocean views / access & the hope of being able to park my car and not use it again until checkout. The rooms were excellent, the staff throughout the site and service is outstanding. The food was excellent!!! (Add the breakfast option @ Florabella) I received far more for my $'s worth at Omni Amelia Island.

If I could give more than 5 stars for service I would. The staff at the Omni were some of the nicest I have ever encountered at a hotel. It seemed like everyone was willing to go above and beyond to help us. We had a small issue with our room after we arrived that was taken care of by the time in less than an hour. Not only did they take care of it, but they followed up with us to make sure it was taken care of. My husband and I were here for a conference and we really enjoyed our stay. A lot of hotels advertise a "heated pool", but most of the time, the heat is minimal at best. I was quite pleased that the Omni's outdoor pools were really warm, even in cooler temperatures. It seemed like the hotel was doing some updates here in the slow season, but even those didn't take away from our enjoyment. I would really recommend the Omni for a getaway or conference.
