Description

Candlewood Valley in New Milford is a daily-fee public course that’s positioned as a full 18-hole experience with a “public but polished” feel. The layout is scenic and plays through classic Litchfield Hills gateway terrain—rolling land, seasonal color, and a calm, removed atmosphere despite being accessible off major routes. It’s designed to be playable for a range of golfers, with multiple teeing options that let you scale the challenge up or down. The course is also the type of facility that supports repeat play—leagues, outings, and a clubhouse atmosphere that fits both casual rounds and planned events. If you’re looking for a public course that feels like it’s trying to deliver a private-club level of service and conditioning, Candlewood Valley is built for that.

I don't often write reviews, but I have to say that CVCC continues to be my favorite golf course in CT. Not only is it beautifully maintained and lovely natural walking course, but the staff is just very welcoming and kind. I had a 7:00am tee time this morning. As soon as I got there, the starter greeted me with small talk/pleasantries and told me about the issues with rain I might have. After 4 holes, the rain/thunder started coming down. One of the maintenance staff drove the mower over to me and told me about the course suspending play - again, wonderfully nice gentleman that gave me directions back to the clubhouse. I asked for a raincheck and the woman running the Pro Shop was gracious enough to just refund me the round. Again, perfectly pleasant and welcoming. I told her I'll no doubt be back soon. Whatever you guys are doing, keep it up!

Jennifer does an amazing job. You can see her heart in every detail. So happy to partner here again for our second Galentine’s workshop. It’s such a great space for events and celebrations. Looking forward to our next one!

The course itself was fun, but I must say we didn't have knowledge the greens were aerated, prior to us playing which was a bummer. But the real highlight here was the clubhouse food! Wow! The burger, onion rings, and wings were fantastic!! Burger was cooked to perfection 👌 If I was to criticize anything, the slaw was delicious but I would add a little more vinegar, salt and pepper and then it would be out of this world!!! I will literally go out of my way to eat here even if I'm not golfing! 10/10

Never going back again! I've played there for years but NEVER AGAIN! The new carts are the worst, they drive and break nicely but God forbid you go too close to the Tee box as well as many other spots on the course. The cart shuts down and starts beeping insistently. So I think, OK, I'll back up a couple of feet and it will stop beeping-NOT I had to back up 20 yards away will the cart is berating me with these constant annoying beeping. My friend said you have to look at the screen above for a warning...When I'm driving through a severely damaged cart paths and terrain I"M WATCHING THE ROAD!!! Golf should be a relaxing sport-NOT HERE! It was like the cart was scolding me and punishing me...The anxiety it caused me screwed up my whole game. Not going back like I stopped returning to Ridgefield Golf course because they have the same ANNOYING carts.

I played here about a month ago and was extremely disappointed. The course was in very poor condition—rough was overgrown, fairways were chewed up, and drainage was terrible. Many holes had little to no visibility because of overgrown ponds filled with weeds and cattails. The cart paths were so broken down it felt more like off-roading than a golf course. The only positive was the new carts, but honestly, that adds no real value. Most golfers have GPS on their phones or use rangefinders, so GPS carts aren’t necessary. On top of that, the pricing was unreasonable. I had only one option: $90 whether I played 9 or 18 holes, and this was at 4:00 on a Sunday. Given the condition of the course and knowing what this club recently sold for, I just can’t justify the new prices.
