Description

Miner Hills is a public 18-hole course in Middletown that’s known for being approachable, affordable, and easy to play as a regular local option. The layout offers a mix of hole styles—some more open and forgiving, others tighter and more positional—which keeps the round from feeling repetitive. It’s not designed to be brutally punishing, but it will challenge you if you spray it, especially when you’re forced to hit recovery shots from awkward lies or blocked angles. The vibe is practical and no-fuss, which makes it a popular spot for casual rounds, leagues, and golfers who simply want a solid public 18 without a destination price tag. Overall, Miner Hills is dependable “everyday public golf” with enough variety to keep you coming back.

Miners is a challenging, very well maintained course. Your game will improve by navigating narrow fairways, elevation changes and the famous undulating greens. This is not a bombers layout. There's a couple of chances to break out driver, (and a couple of holes where you wish you didn't!). Instead though, it's perfect for dialing in the irons and wedges. Been wanting to learn how to fade your 7? This is the place. You will be penalized on bad shots as it should be. I've been playing with buddies for a couple of years there, and every time I discover something new. First off, you might need to vary your tee boxes, not to shorten or lengthen yardage but to shape your shot or gain a few feet of elevation. #9 comes to mind. Short finishing hole that's beautiful from blue, unforgiving from anything else. I'll take view from #2 or #6 anytime. It's hilly, and most holes are sloped, you can walk it but have really good shoes. Think about it this way, your average muni might be easier to play because it's set up so anyone can grab a decent score. At Miners you will be challenged, because it's designed that way. I think Don, one of the owners, has a mean streak for some of those pin placements. You can't beat the cost, bring a snack or something and just enjoy it for what it is. Par is a very good score here.

Great smaller course with 3 short par 4s. Do not let the total yardage of the course fool you. Some of the greens will leave you scratching your head. Overall a solid and challenging little course. The only downside is a few of the greens are just unforgiving. Even great golf shots may not hold the surface. You have to know the course to shoot a decent number here. The most challenging short course I've ever played. Always great times here.

The course is quite unkept and have played better for cheaper. I came here with my younger siblings when we came to the front desk we weren’t allowed to rent two carts since one is under their allow age to drive the cart. But because of this and the fact that we were new to the game it lead the owner to constantly harass us about our speed on a open course. They were harassing us so much to point it brought my youngest brother*age 11* to tears. We came here attempting improve our skill and gain a love for the game.We left with our confidence and spirits down. This is not beginner friendly course and I’m assuming not an intermediate or advanced level course do to the condition. If you were planning on golfing in ct I would much more recommend a course like hunter,Indian springs,Lyman orchards and most other courses.

Best kept secret! It's challenging yet not so much so that it's not enjoyable. Course is well maintained, friendly staff. It's my "home course"
