I’ve been playing at Highland Hills Golf Course for the past five years, and it’s become a go-to spot for me and my friends. The course is consistently well-maintained, especially the greens, and the atmosphere is welcoming without being overly formal. Whether you’re playing a serious round or just enjoying a relaxed day outdoors, this course strikes a great balance. A solid local gem in Greeley.

Staff was for the most part, friendly, course is in good shape, pace was slow but its summer time... No ride alongs. You have to play if you're riding. (Not cool for the parent who has a kid and a tee time)

Your pro shop dude is a complete jerk. Every time I come in, he acts like I'm wasting his precious time. His attitude sucks, and frankly, it's ruining the whole experience of playing at your course. I’ve booked multiple tee times with them, then I go in and tell them my time and name and he says nope you obviously didn’t book it here or nope not here can’t help you sorry. You guys need to get him some customer service training or replace him with someone who actually wants to be there. Worst attitude I’ve ever seen.

It would be hard to imagine a ruder ranger. We hear complaints about how rude and entitled the younger generations are. This ranger proved you can yell at people before figuring out what is going on irrespective of one’s age. Let’s try this, relax a bit, smile, and ask kindly. Life doesn’t need to be so loud. I respect the ranger job. But goodness, calm down or take a day off.

Highland Hills is one of the best public courses in northern Colorado. Year after year it continues to provide a challenging and enjoyable test of golf. Could the bunkers be raked more often? Could weeds be pulled? Could areas be marked more clearly? Yes. But it’s public, so some of that is expected. Overall, Greeley is fortunate to have a public course of this quality. Pace of play, however, has always been an issue. Weekend rounds often stretch past five hours. This could be improved with a proper ranger, not just a volunteer driving laps, and a starter who manages groups effectively. Many nearby courses do this well, and it makes a noticeable difference. Without that oversight, it can be frustrating round. Staffing is another weakness. Aside from a few employees, the staff often feels untrained or motivated more by free golf than by providing a good experience. Evening golfers, in particular, are often rushed so staff can close early. If I pay for my round, I should be able to finish without feeling rushed off the course. The driving range is one of the worst in our area, which is disappointing given the caliber of the course. For much of the year, the grass tee boxes are bare dirt and sand, which makes them unpleasant to hit from. Mats are an improvement, but the current range setup is outdated and limited. Range balls are another problem. In any given bucket, 10 to 20 percent are cracked, broken, or deformed, making them unusable. I also don't mind staff collecting baskets, but driving a cart onto the tee line while people are hitting is something I haven’t seen at other courses. The quality of the range does not match the price. Since Covid, golf has grown in popularity across the country, and both Greeley courses are busier than ever which is exciting. We are lucky to have so many courses up north to play and despite a few drawbacks, this is certainly a good course if you get the chance.
