Whoever is placing the cups needs to learn to not leave a lip around it. A true cup should not have a rising lip around it. I was robbed of three birdies because of a rise around the cup. Knowing how to cut a cup is rule number one. Secondly they need to grow some more grass on the fairways, a ball on the fairway should not be surrounded by three blades of grass and sitting on mud. Lastly, the course really has no rough, a drive that lands in the fairway and "bounces" out of bounds is terrible. Fix the fairways and grow some actual rough to keep balls that land in the fairway in play. The rough is something that is a part of the course to help hold shots in play.

Come to Alta Sierra where you can watch complete drunk idiots suck at golf and shank balls over and over with their pants down, so much in fact I got it on video. Come to Alta Sierra where every employee couldn't care less about the absolute clowns 'playing golf' in front of us, especially the Marshall who acted like we were out of line for complaining to him and expecting him to do his job. Completely ruined a decent day of golf. The course is not in great shape, but it's a cute track, impolite bar tenders to apathetic Marshalls, good luck if you decide to waste your money here.

I ate it so fast I could barely take a photo! This BLT tasted like it was made with love. My compliments to the Tuesday chef!

I gave Alta Sierra GC a try for the first time, and I will be back. The course is located in the heavily forrested hilly terraine north of Auburn on HWY49. The staff were helpful, the course was in good shape, and greens were fast. It appears that there is ongoing maintenace taking place, lots of tree trimming taking place. Most of the tee boxes were in good shape, a few showed signs of under repair. The fairways were for the most part in good shape. There is water (ponds) in place on several holes which is a nice touch. Being in the foothills, there are plenty of elevation changes, which also offers a few blind tee shots (over hills). After the round I had lunch, which was terrific - great food. If you enjoy playing golf in the foothills, elevation changes, and water in a pictureesque environment, you will love Alta Sierra.
