A golf course in the middle of the forest, but even the golfers looked dazed and depressed. The Inn at Nakoma is like a mausoleum. Only one soda machine that was out of order. Absolutely nothing, the deadest place on earth. The rooms are nice, but there's nothing else. Isolated and you have to drive to get anywhere or anything. Plus they tack on a hefty daily "resort fee." Extremely bleak and disappointing, like an open air prison.

Checked in at 7:30pm and was given a 745pm reservation for dinner. Upon arrival we were told they were overbooked and under-staffed even though the restaurant was half empty? They were out of two entrees with a limited menu to begin with? Room was slightly better than the typical Hampton Inn and the Rec Center was just like a YMCA with nicer deck chairs. Certainly not worth the $400/night charge. Gold course was very difficult but beautiful and enjoyable.

Beautiful setting and the rooms were nice but the women at the front desk refused to help when I complained that the wifi wasn’t working well and I could hear noise from the lobby even with ear plugs in. A little hospitality or effort would have gone a long way, but they basically told me my reservation was non-refundable so I needed to deal with it. The manager was rude enough that I felt it was worth writing this review. Stay somewhere else nearby and pay to use the facilities.

This property is stunning and the rooms were clean, but unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by how we were treated. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it, especially with so many better-priced options nearby. At check-in, the front desk agent offered to upgrade our room. We were excited and at no point were we told this would come with an additional charge. At checkout, I noticed we were charged $1,000 more than what Expedia had quoted, and the final invoice was sent directly to Expedia instead of us. When I followed up, the hotel initially admitted it was an error and promised to fix it. Several days passed with no update. I called multiple times with no response. Eventually, they returned my call and said the extra charge was for the upgrade — which we were never informed would cost more. We absolutely would have declined if we had known. Since then, I’ve tried contacting the hotel repeatedly, but my calls and messages have been ignored. It’s incredibly disappointing to be misled and then ghosted, especially by a place that otherwise has so much potential. We’ve been coming to this area for years and always loved it, but after this experience, we’ll be taking our business elsewhere. Bummer!

Golf course is well maintained but borders on the unfair. They should consider more serious modifications. Hard to enjoy a golf vacation on such a punitive layout.
