Description

Chamberlyne stretches over seven thousand yards with broad fairways, strategic bunkering, and par 3s that demand precise distance control. The course builds in drama as you go, mixing scoring chances with stout two-shotters that reward confident driving. Greens have enough tilt to keep putters honest without being punitive. Practice facilities are solid, and the overall presentation is polished yet relaxed. It is a modern Arkansas layout that balances playability with bite for a wide range of handicaps.

the course as amazing, unfortunately they had just airated the greens, but had not finish the job as there were holes that caused the ball to jump hop turn and go slower. Other than that is a great course and the people were very friendly and accommodating.

One of my favorite courses in Arkansas. Nice mix of hills, valleys and open fairways.

Very long course but pretty open for long hitters. Club house is great and food is awesome!

The course was in excellent shape. The treatment of half the field in a two day benefit tournament was horrible. After a massive storm Saturday night, the morning flights (the worst three flights) were sent off at 9 o'clock (1 1/2 hours late) playing only 9 holes. The afternoon flights (the championship, 1st and 2nd flights) went off at 1 o'clock and played 18 holes!!!! Everyone paid the same amount of money and the afternoon could have started as late as 2:30 and still made it by dark. No explanation was given by the club as to how the decision was made to treat half the players as second class. My team has played in tournaments at CCC since at least 2001 (have a golf towel to prove it) but we will NOT play there again. I know they don't care about loyal folks who have played their tournaments over 20 years. We aren't good, but we don't care about the score. It's the fun of playing. We will find other tournaments to play in.

One doesn't normally expect to find an absolute gem of a golf course in a rural Arkansas town, but that's indeed the case relative to Chamberlyne Country Club in Danville, AR [population is less than 2,500]. Located roughly 1.5 hours equidistant from either Fort Smith or Little Rock, Chamberlyne is BY FAR THE BEST semi-private course to play in the greater Arkansas River Valley region. Despite a course rating of 73.8 and a slope of 127 [Max is 155] across roughly 7,000 yards from the "tips," Chamberlyne is a uniquely challenging course to play given the amount of strategic shot making that is required on multiple holes due to tight fairways and/or well placed “bends” in the fairways. In fairness, the slope rating of 127 from the "tips," is deceptively low as the course plays more like a 140. From the White tees [6.2K yards], the slope rating is 121 which is also deceptively low. You'll definitely hit every club in the bag on this course [and you'll also need to be able to "work" the ball across multiple clubs just the same]. If you've not played Chamberlyne, you're definitely in for a treat. "Positives" 1. Definitely a great and challenging layout. 2. The Pro Shop is very nicely appointed and the personnel were absolutely top notch. 3. Generally speaking, you can obtain a decent last minute tee time on the weekends with relatively minimal notice [e.g. prior to 10 AM]. 4. The greens are well maintained but can be challenging due to their elevation changes and their overall size which seems to be about 75% - 80% of most regulation greens that my group plays each weekend. The greens are also bermuda and are definitely firm. 6. The course itself and the surrounding area are unbelievably picturesque. There's a magnificent Island green par three on the Back 9 and water comes into play on several holes across the Back 9 just the same. 7. $60+ for greens fees [including cart] on the weekends is an incredible price point for a course of this magnitude. 8. For those interested, Chamberlyne also offers "stay and play" packages with well appointed Villas that border the course and clubhouse. 9. Membership packages to Chamberlyne are also incredibly priced for those desiring to be part of a true country club atmosphere [including all of the amenities that one might expect to find in such a country club membership]. If my group members and I lived an hour closer to Danville, we'd definitely be Chamberlyne members. Although the course is ~2.5 hours from NW Arkansas [Fayetteville], we'll definitely be adding Chamberlyne to our rotation of courses that we play consistently as it's undeniably worth the trip to play such an exceptional golf course.
