Beautiful grounds and lots of friendly faces

OakWood Country Clubs anti kid/youth policy has reached new heights. I have been coming to this course on and off for over 26 years as my parents retired in the neighborhood and I grew up playing it. This evening, I took my 14 year old daughter with me at 3:30 to go hit balls. She is a 4 Handicap and plays tournaments all around and was wearing an Athleta golf shirt, skirt, and golf shoes and has never had an issue. I sent her into the pro shop to buy 2 buckets of balls for us, she came back to me in tears and embarrassed as the guy in the proshop pictured here would not allow her on the range as she didn’t have a collared shirt. He was rude to her and could have handled the situation much differently. I went back and tried talking to him and said she had a quarter zip she could wear and he said he would not allow her out there. Just a completely ridiculous thing to treat a kid like that, he could have approached it much differently instead he was condescending, rude and embarrassed her. Luckily my daughter handled it well and politely left, and went to go putt. But later was mortified, crying and embarrassed with how this employee would talk to her in the way he did. Very disappointed in how a staff member would treat a kid just trying to buy a bucket of balls. I’ve included pictures of what she was wearing for context. We talked about and yes, technically she didn’t have the right type of shirt but if you go to any youth girls competitive tournament, this is the fit. And she had a nice quarter zip that would have made the situation fine but again, no reasonable judgement was made. Additionally, after talking to him, I pointed out several people outside also not in dress code, one of them was probably 7-8 years old hitting with his dad, the golf shop employee went out afterwards and made him leave the range which was even more infuriating. When I went back, he would only sell me a small bucket, saying the range was closing and I had to be done hitting by 4:15, but yet there were 4 other ‘older’ men out with full large buckets they had just gotten. Decent happy hour prices, absolutely beautiful location and view. Great menu choices. Their fish and chips are delicious. It's mahi in a crisp, thin batter. When we were there, pelicans were in the lake.

Went here for an Elks golf outing. The club had everything set up very well for the event. Carts ready, coolers with ice available. The only thing was there was no place to get a drink. Not a huge deal since I don't usually drink and golf, but others with me did. On the course, the water was spread kind of thin for a summer in AZ, since it was supposed to hit 109 that day. The cart lady had NO water either. That, I couldn't believe. The course itself was well maintained, but the grass off the fairway was just long enough to totally hide balls. We must have lost over a dozen between us. Greens were typically slow in the morning, and sped up as the day went on. All in all, a good experience and we enjoyed the day.

Stopped and visited a friend at the pool. We really enjoy this area. We saw Elton John tribute band that was so-so.
