Description

Perched on Dauphin Island, Isle Dauphine pairs coastal breezes with sweeping Gulf views. The current nine hole loop delivers sandy, links like visuals and firm playing conditions when the weather turns dry. Wind is the principal defense; club selection can vary two or more clubs from day to day. The original 18 opened in the 1960s, and today's revived routing preserves the relaxed beach town feel. Without a range, it's best to stretch on the putting green and embrace the vacation tempo.

Excellent gulf golf course. It is a golf course on the beach, so there are many challenges, but worth it. The course was in excellent condition, at great prices, and challenging yet relaxing. I recommend it if you are in the area and want a fun round without taking out a loan to play on the beach. Dale and his wife are the nicest people I met on my trip, and they are doing a fantastic job with this course. I can't wait to go back. 10/10

Well....the course is nowhere near a quality course. Sand everywhere, greens are horrendous, but sadly we kinda expected that. On to th3 good stuff....the employee was pleasant...even though the prices for what you play on are absolutely unreasonable. Rented clubs were fine, charged us $1.50 for rehash golf balls...its definitely close to a golf scam, save your money and play elsewhere, unless you just understand, that the putt putt course on the island is gonna put this place to shame. We did however make.some memories....I get that the course is under fairly new management, and they are working on it....but I shouldn't have to pay semi-private course prices for a course that is embarrassing to the game of golf....charge accordingly until you get it up to "par"

If you’re a serious golfer I’d recommend going somewhere else. Friendly staff tho, pricey for the quality of the course but you’re right in the gulf and don’t have to leave the island to golf. Would make for an interesting golf show to have pro golfers play at this course to see how well they pan out.

I do not personally golf but watched others enjoy golf course right by the Gulf beach. I enjoyed walking down to beach and walking all over the beach. I saw lots of birds, some little crabs and some fish, unfortunately lots of red fish dead along shore. Other than dead fish it was a clean and nice beach.

The golf course has a lot of potential, but unfortunately they aren’t utilizing any of it. 4 out of the 18 fairways could almost be considered good. There wasn’t a single good green, not even the putting green, to the point I just picked up once I got my ball on the green. None of the tee boxes were good. They were mostly sand with a few tuffs of grass that weren’t even cut short. I would think a beachside golf course would at least have good sand traps, seeing there is sand everywhere , but even those were full of weeds. The lips of the bunkers were over grown with knee high grass. Some of the cart paths were so overgrown that you get hit by limbs driving down them. The course has poor signage (where to go for next hole, also no signage on the club “house”). We gave up on finding it and ended up going in Pirate’s to ask them. As for the positive, the course wasn’t busy and didn’t have to wait on any holes to tee off, unfortunately I think that is due to the conditions. I’ve played several beachfront golf courses and this by far ranks the lowest. $45 seemed pretty cheap before experiencing the course, but after it is too high for the course we played. I understand a course can lose the greens for a year, whether it be disease or burnt out, but there’s no aspect of the course that is in good shape. I wouldn’t recommend playing here. I think you would be less frustrated playing putt putt than attempting to roll a straight putt across the greens here. I’m sorry for seeming harsh, but it doesn’t even appear to be a work in progress.
